The True Meaning of Christmas
What is the true meaning of Christmas? Is it exchanging presents with your loved ones? Is it a big Christmas feast with all your family and friends? Is it something more? We think Christina K. and her family have demonstrated the true reason for the season with their touching story below.
“My husband and I heard about a family (grandmother, mother and 4 sons who are aged 6 to 12) living in pretty destitute conditions. They had no heat in the home, and the mom was traveling by bus to work daily at McDonalds (a daily commute taking 56 minutes each way at least). I’ve included a picture of the shoes the youngest child has been wearing while asking around his neighborhood for food. Both shoes are for left feet, and it’s all he had. We shared the picture of these shoes with a network of family, friends and employees and customers at my husband’s business. We raised over $2,000, and each child has several pairs of brand new shoes. The family has also received 6 months of paid rent and utilities, in addition to the money raised for food, toys and clothes. The gifts under the tree are those we received for the family from Tuesday through Friday and enlisted our kids to wrap. There’s still more to wrap! We will deliver all of these gifts on the evening of the 23rd and they will be placed under the family’s first ever Christmas tree, which was another generous donation.”
