And just like that…it is September!
And just like that…it is September! It has been a long 18 months for everyone, but here at EnviroVac we are highly optimistic that things are continuing to move in the right direction.
The consequences of the pandemic have been extremely uneven. It created the most severe global economic contraction since the Great Depression and the sharpest fall off in equity markets since 1987. While some industries, particularly those that depend on people congregating in person, have suffered, others have flourished. The stock market recovery appears to bode well for growth, even as the pandemic numbers appear to continue upward for now, with the new Delta Variant. However, the current situation continues to remain one of a troubled economy for the United States and the world.
As a reminder too, the pandemic has accelerated deeper trends, from the growing retirement crisis to systemic inequalities. Several months into the year, the pandemic collided with a wave of historic protests. And more recently, it has exacerbated the political climate in the U.S. The political dissention continues, and the situation in Afghanistan is beyond sad and disturbing. The evacuation clearly should have been carried out with a more detailed and well thought out plan for taking care of our fellow Americans in Afghanistan.
Moving on to the vaccine, which continues to be a heavy issue for many, however, it is abundantly clear that the vaccine is effective in reducing illness and saving lives. I encourage everyone who is medically able to do so, and within their religious guidelines, to get vaccinated. An overwhelming percentage of those in our hospitals with Covid are unvaccinated. Again, this vaccine is safe, and it saves lives. Covid is dangerous, and it kills.
Most importantly, I want to continue to thank everyone for their steadfast support throughout this difficult time in our country. We hope that you are faring well despite the many challenges we have collectively faced and continue to endure related to this pandemic. I hope that some sense of hope has reached your homes, and that you remain in good health as we head into the last quarter of 2021.
